A free tool to check how ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and other AI assistants describe your brand. No signup required — just enter your brand name.
Want to know what AI assistants say about your brand without signing up for anything? Here is a free method that takes about five minutes.
The free manual method
You do not need any tool to do a basic AI visibility check. Here is how:
Step 1: Open three AI assistants
Open ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity in separate browser tabs. These three cover the majority of AI-assisted product research.
Step 2: Ask category questions
Do not search for your brand name — that is not how real shoppers use AI. Instead, ask the kind of question a customer would ask:
- "What are the best [your product category] for [use case]?"
- "Recommend a [product type] under [price point]"
- "Compare [your brand] vs [competitor]"
Write down the prompts you use so you can repeat the test later.
Step 3: Record what you find
For each assistant, note:
- Was your brand mentioned? (yes/no)
- Which specific products were named?
- Were the details correct? (price, features, availability)
- Which competitors appeared?
- Did the assistant actively recommend you or just list you?
Step 4: Compare across assistants
You will likely see different results on each platform. ChatGPT might mention you but get the price wrong. Gemini might skip you entirely. Perplexity might cite a competitor's blog post as the source.
These gaps are your AI visibility opportunities.
What this manual check tells you
- If you are invisible (not mentioned at all), you have a foundational problem — your product data and web presence are not reaching the AI's training corpus.
- If you are mentioned inaccurately, your data is reaching the AI but in a corrupted form — wrong prices, outdated features, confused product names.
- If you are positioned wrong (always listed as budget when you are premium), the AI has the wrong competitive context for your brand.
The limitations of manual checking
- It is a snapshot. AI answers change as models update. What is true today might shift next week.
- It covers 3 assistants at most. There are 8+ major AI assistants now, and each gives different answers.
- It does not scale. If you have 50 products and 10 relevant prompts, that is 500 checks per session.
- No tracking over time. You cannot see trends without a baseline and consistent measurement.
What automated monitoring adds
A dedicated AI visibility tool solves all four problems:
| What manual gives you | What automated gives you |
|---|---|
| One-time snapshot | Daily tracking with change alerts |
| 2-3 assistants | 8+ assistants in one view |
| 10-20 prompts max | Hundreds of buyer questions, automatically generated |
| Manual notes in a spreadsheet | Dashboard with trends, evidence, and recommendations |
| Hours per week | Minutes per week |
